DIY design
01st June
As the bank holiday approaches many of our thoughts will turn lightly to DIY. There’s been a great piece in The Guardian on Fuel’s new book on DIY design and products. Some of this is about necessity being the mother of invention. Some has been done just for the hell of it. But all of it is part of a very exclusive club: things made not to be sold.
As the piece notes, I think the work and the spirit that guides it is pretty inspiring. As design professionals we might like to think we occupy a special place in the world. But creative and practical endeavour are human nature and it’s nice to think we are just the lucky ones who actually get paid for doing what comes naturally to us all. Love that table too!
