And the winner is…

18th May

After 3 weeks of judging, we are pleased to announce the winners of jkr’s 2012 student design competition. Briefed to design a 1930s inspired cocktail, the task involved every aspect of brand creation from name, label and bottle shape through to the outer packaging itself. The challenge for the designers was to capture our imagination, evoke the 1930s era and most importantly, to create something we’d actually want to try.

With such a wide open brief, we were hoping to see some really creative responses and we weren’t disappointed. From cocktails served up in egg boxes (complete with a cocktail contained within the egg) through to the more classic and traditional approaches, we were really impressed by the ideas and effort. We had a few unexpected surprises as well, notably the box of physical samples that arrived in the office one Friday afternoon - just in time for cocktail hour at 5pm. Impeccable timing as well as great thinking.

With over 50 entries in total, getting it down to 3 was no easy task. The thing that separated the winners was that they really took the brief to the next level. Every aspect of the brand and its presentation was considered, with real attention to detail. The overall effect was that those brands truly came to life. Thanks again to everyone who entered and congratulations once more, to the winners. We hope you enjoy the work as much as we did….

1st place: Jack Gibbons

2nd place: Chris Bounds

3rd place: Andrew Hinds

And here are just a selection of the other great entries we received…

Well done to at least two of Nottingham Trent’s students shown above in the selection of other submissions!
