Porkinson brings its bowtie back to life

28th September

The Porkinson Banger was the creation of fashion photographer Norman Parkinson. True to his values, it is a classic, English sausage that is uncompromising on taste. Over the years, the brand has lost its association with its creator, so jkr were tasked with restoring Parkinson’s original vision to the pack.

A man of impeccable taste, he would accept only the very best. Despite his jet-set lifestyle, he missed the simple tastes of home and it was this yearning that drove him to create the ‘Perfect Banger’. A famously succulent sausage made from the finest ingredients and a fantastic, unique recipe.

The flamboyant bowtie design embodies Parkinson’s quintessentially English personality while providing great standout and navigation on shelf. The back of pack elaborates further on his original story. The result is a design that we hope Parkinson himself would be proud to see the pack wearing.

“The bowtie leapt out as a strong symbol of English exuberance and class. It also offered a vast array of colour and pattern to enjoy.” Sean Lingwood, Designer, jkr.

Both the illustration of Norman Parkinson and the bow tie photography above were produced in-house by jkr creatives.

Birds Eye brings a fresh herb garden to your freezer

24th September

Birds Eye’s new Field Fresh herbs range has just launched with design by jkr.

“Extending the Birds Eye vegetables range into herbs is an exciting move for the brand. The insight is based around that fact that people are cooking more from scratch but hate the short shelf life of fresh herbs.” Jovan Buac, jkr.

The Field Fresh identity is all about the freshest products picked at their peak, which covers such Birds Eye mainstays as frozen peas. This brand extension is likened to ‘a fresh herb garden in your freezer’  -  a real innovation for the frozen food market aiming to create a new category in the fixture.

When it came to the design, simplicity was key. The solution had to work on a small pack format while communicating the concept of frozen fresh herbs – something that we are unfamiliar with in the UK.

Marketing Director for Birds Eye, Ben Pearman, says “Our Field Fresh Veg portfolio represents the best of the best in frozen vegetables. Consumers know that Birds Eye’s expertise deliver great tasting vegetables every time and at a time when scratch cooking is a particularly popular past-time, launching Field Fresh Herbs couldn’t be more ideal.”

And see how the concept comes to life in the advert below…
